93z28 starts then shuts down

My 93 has new plugs wires, distributor, water pump, computer has been sent for R and R. Wmen we got the computer back the car ran better then ever and 2 weeks later the car started its issues. I know it says to make sure the VATS is turned off and i have no idea how to shut it off if it is even on. I checked for wiring issues and found some chewed wiring from some mice. I also found out some idiot bypassed the cars stock sec urity system with a Viper Alarm and have alarm Pod for it.

Can Some one please tell me what is going on with this car.

thanks Paul

Car Is for sale $2000 on craigslist in St Louis (for Pics)

It sounds like you have a lot of issues
First get all your wiring fixed
Then get on shbox.com and verify your opti coil ignition module vats ect trust me he has the info
You need to sort out your ride
If not well I live 12 miles from six flags in the washington/pacific area so maybe I can lend a hand?

The wiring is a big issue. Would be a waste of time to go forward until all the damaged wire is fixed. Where exactly is it chewed up?

The wires are not chewed completely threw, they are to the cold air intake and the power brakes, and i think one is to the idle position sensor.

I,m going to try and clean the key and ignition out and see if maybe that will work. We have been having problems with this car for a while and figured the computer to be the problem. So i am thinking the security system is faulty and have no idea how to shut of the VATS if you know how please let me know.

thanks Paul

I live 12 miles south of De soto rite by Washington State Park. Let me know if you want to come out and take a look at it.

What happens when you disconnect the viper system?

Has it ever started and run normally? Did this problem just start?

When it starts, how long does it run before it shuts off? Have you checked the fuel pressuer?

Have you scanned it for codes? Very easy on a 93, since you can still use the paperclip to short the pins and flash the codes on the SES light.

It did have a problem shuting down every once in a while and we thaut we fixed it with new distributor, wires and plugs, new ignition coil, new ICM, new water pump, R and R the computer then it ran perfect for 2 weeks now it starts for 1 second and dies. then it will not start for a day and then does same thing. Their are no codes flashing and when i check to see if their is any voltage to fuel pump their is none, sending unit uhms out fine and the fuel pump relay is working properly and has the proper voltage and uhms out fine.

the only thing i can think of is wires or security system issues my self it says to make sure the VAATS is shut off but does not say how too.

Does the fuel pump power up when you apply 12V to the fuel pump prime connector next to the ECM? That bypasses the ECM permit and the relay.

Not sure what you are "ohming out" on the fuel pump sending unit. The level sensor doesn't have anything to do with the pump running.

You indicate "there are no codes flashing"..... do you at least get "12" to indicate the ECM has gone into diagnostic mode?
