93 Z28 Should I buy this car?
Clean car fax (qualifies for the $5,000 deal (not sure what that is worth, if anything), non smoker car, no maintenance records. I'm waiting to hear from the guy about the brakes and the possibility the the Opti got wet when he steam-cleaned the engine. Otherwise, I'm seriously considering buying the car.
Input is great, thanks and keep it coming!

I have a great cond. 93 and it's bad ***. No complaints. But this is compared to my old 89 RS. I got 120K on it. I basically stole it. I paid 2500$ cause of the tranny issues it was having. I'm sure the tune-up/opti-change will fix the no ***** issue. If you can get it for 5500, that's a decent price for a well maintained car. Blue book is what, 4300$?? But you can't find one for that price anyhow. What was the Vette going for? That's not a bad ride either.
thats way too much. i wouldnt pay more than 4500 for that car. its freaking 11 yrs old. also if it feels down on power, you must look at everything pessimistically (spelling?). dont make excuses for a car becuase you want it. i would wait and find one with out all the little problems. i paid 8 grand for my car and it was bone stock in 100% show room condition with 40k on the clock. fully loaded and ttops. if i was you id low ball him, and if he wont sell you it, walk away. youll find better cheaper cars somewhere. or if you do buy it, come here and well help you fix the problems. good luck

crank the A/C drive around for about 20-30 minutes and then stop and let it idle.. if it surges and then bogs down when you try to take off id say leave it because alot have been having that problem and its a SOB to fix..
I paid 4800 for my 94' Z with 125k on the clock. New (5k) tranny, new springs/shocks, and new opti/water pump (500 miles on em). Had full audio and the 3.73 gears+flowmaster as well.
Look for deals, they're out there

First, if you're going to try and bring down a group of individuals on an intelligent level, you need to at least use spell check. I'm sure that the last comment you made, even though it was riveting and full of wit, falls about 30 yards from making any logical sense at all. The mere fact that you are buying into that whole "first years are junk" stereotype is laughable. I love those last two comments you made though, very funny! I'd say, keep your nose of a subject you can't say anything about. You don't own a 93, you probably never have, so you can't call them pieces of crap. But please, keep the stupidity flowing if you want! You're on a roll!

Yikes, I did not mean to start a flame war!
Having said that, I disagree injecteSS.
1. I prefer a SD setup over MAF.
2. The car is not high mileage. Howver, high enough that I do not want to pay $5800.
3. The car is not beatup, it is exceptionally clean inside and out. 46 yo woman has owned the car since 7,900 miles, bought in 1994. she is the 2nd and current owner.
4. Everything works on the car ie A/C, heater, wipers, radio, power seats, doors and windows, etc.
5. I can't comment on the vented Opti not knowing this particular engine other than a 350 chevy is a 350 chevy.
What is the cost (Part? Labor?) to convert to a vented Opti? Why is it necessary to convert?
I'm curious why you feel the 1995 is a better car? Specifically, not just because any first year change is a guinea pig because that is not always the case.
Also, I thought the 1993's were sequential fire injection, am I wrong?

Fastbird93,
Thanks for the good input. I really liked this particualr 1993 Camaro. I was surprised at the sluggish feel w/ 275 horses.
raceryan,
The Vette had 47,000 original miles, yet completely trashed on the inside. What a freakin shame. $6800 is what the seller is asking. I think she will come down after she realizes the car needs to much work.
The Vette needs new carpet and seats (digital dash, guages, etc are ok), needs brakes all the way around, needs tires, some paint work, part that holds the hood up, shocks, cables that open the hood and probably needs a host of other stuff as everything is original. The Vette had unbelievable power to be rated at only 230 HP and a TPI setup (Maybe GM underrated the HP that year). Pulled hard as long as I kept my foot in it. No way the 1993 350 LT1 could beat it.
At least not the 1993 I am considering buying which is bone stock.
Thanks again everybody!
