93 Z-28 fuel level gauge

My fuel level gauge goes way past the full mark when you fill the tank. Then, it will go app 100 miles to go back to the full mark. When gauge shows app. 1/2 full, you are close to being empty. Car has been like this since I bought it new. I asked dealer about a T.S.B. on this , but they never did find one. Now, I know others have a similar problem, but is there any way to correct this? I plan on installing a racetronix fuel pump this year. Can I correct this problem while in the tank? Or , is the gauge in the dash the problem? Please help me. Thanks.

They are all the same way. The shape of the tank and placement of the float, makes it that way. Not much you can do about it.
