93 z-28

Getting ready to build my 93 LT1. Someone told me that I had to change the computer, mass airflow sensor, and 2 coil packs. Is it true and if it is where can I get an upgrade kit? Or will the computer recognize the cam and building of the motor? Please let me know. Thanks.

Your 93 does not have a mass air flow (MAF) sensor. That is the only year LT1 that has speed-density tuning. Your 93 has a single coil, no coil packs (no LT1's have coil packs, unless an aftermarket ignition conversion was done). The PCM does not have to be changed, unless you want to switch to the 94+ MAF control system. There is really no advantage in doing that.

Because your 93 is speed-density, it is very critical that you have a new tune for any modifications that help the engine breathe better. That changes the volumetric efficiency of the engine, and the ECM (93 is an "engine" control module = ECM) needs a new replaceable chip to change the tune. The 94+ PCM (for "powertrain" control module) can be tuned with a laptop programming software.

I have a 93z with speed density. It does need a tune, as Injuneer says, for mod changes. I've changed the cam, Injectors, and run an MSD digital 6. I like the way mine runs. It takes a good tuner to set up the part throttle, but the WOT is a total blast!!

Can I put a Hyper Tech computer on it to solve this problem?

no, as stated above, you cannon reprogram or "reflash" that ecu on a 93. You have to phisicaly pull out the chip, have a new chip burned, and reinstall the chip. All a hypertech does is, well nothing. I also have a 93, go to speeddensity.org and start reading. a lot.
