93 throttle valve cable preventing WOT

On my 93, of course I have a throttle valve cable, and I cant open the throttle all the way only about 75-80%, if I unhook the throttle valve cable from the throttle body it will open all the way fine. If I loosen the setting on the cable It will open fine, but then the tranny will shift too soon. I'm thinkin the cable is bent inside and binding up, or the cable is about 1/2" too short. Any of you 93 guys run into this problem, or have any suggestions. Thanks

I had to pull out the accelerator pedal assembly and bend it a bit to get full throttle, the pedal was bottoming on the transmission tunnel before WFO. A little bend in the rod that the pedal mounts to and now it's fine.

Hummm, I really dont want to have to bend the pedal, and I really shouldnt have to either. Do you happen to know the length of your TV cable, the tranny was rebuilt before I bought it, maybe they put on a new cable and it's not the right one, or bent the factory one.

Your cable may be adjusted like that because on a 93 you can not run wot without the tranny down shifting into 3rd it may be like that in order to shift into od.

Are you sure about this? I'm not doubting you or anything, it's just that I think if every 93's throttle didnt open all the way people would of mentioned it by now or I would of known by now.

Cool

Yes i talked to trans guy about mine one time because when i was running at wot the tranny would not stay in od unless i backed off the throttle a little bit. They make a kit to stop this
and give you od at wot corvetts and some other models have
this kit from the factory i do not know why Gm did not put it
on all the lt1 equiped cars any way i found this out on an f body
org message board and did some research on it. good luck

Pretty sure the tranny isnt supposed to shift into overdrive at WOT, and why would you want it to anyways, unless I misunderstood what you were saying.

Depending on rear gear ratio you may want 4th gear for max bottom end speed.

Sonnax has a "fix" for this, it allows you to get more TV at part throttle (later part throttle shifts) and thereby allowing WOT shifts without pulling out the TV cable. A trans shop in your local area should be able to get one for you.

you guys are talking about two diff. things. the WOT upshift into 4 gear is a part of the trans internals. it is a valve in the valve body. sounds like your cable is no good and not allowing full travel. I have a 700r4 in my 95, so I also have a TV cable. the trans will stay in 3rd gear and not shift into 4 until you back off a little, but the throttle blades are still wide open. a new cable in only about $30, and isnt that hard to change. just time consuming taking off the tranny pan. Id try that first.

Try asking this over on the speed density board. I know we've got a couple of well versed A4 guys over there who should be able to help ya out.
