Can the sensor be relocated from the oil filter to the intake manifold where it is on later years? I have long tubes and that sensor is wat to close to the header tubes for my comfort. It seems like a simple thing to correct or am I missing something?

 

Can be relocated. Screws into the top of the block, right behind the intake manifold, not into the intake manifold. You need some 90-degree fittings:
