93 LT1's vs. 94 and up LT1 motors

A buddy and I are having an arugment about how he thinks the 94 and up LT1's are faster? I have a 93 LT1 in my 92 RS. It really doesnt "throw" you back in your seat. I still have the 2:73 gears from the factory. All LT1's are rated from the factory at 275/335 right? Is he right? Thanks!

93-5 are rated at 275 and the 96-7 are at 285 hp, torque is all the same. The B-Body(Caprice/Impala) Lt1s have 10 more pounds of torque and 240(?) hp. Onto your question, 93s don't have a mass air flow sensor and if I remember correctly are missing a few other sensors. The also lack electronic transmissions. They're still rated at 275 but from what I've seen personally they don't seem to perform the same, this doesn't mean they're all dogs. However, I drove one when I was looking to buy my car, that had intake, exhaust and a few other things that felt mighty quick. That's just my 2 cents.

Don't know how long you have been reading this forum (you don't have many posts), but do a search. Performance differences between 93-97 has been discussed to death. There is very little actual difference between them all, even though a lot of people claim the 1993 is actually the fastest. Sometimes I think the fastest year is the one in your driveway.

The thread is named "Excellent 93 Specific list" or something like that.

As for what I quoted, there is NO substantiating evidence that they're any slower than any other LT1. I specifically remember a performance shop being quoted in a thread as saying that 93's actually respond better to mods than the MAF cars.

Here is the 93 specific info list.

lol...I agree...I think the fastest is the one in our driveways. It is my understanding that 96-97 have a little bigger cam plus netting 10 more hp. As for proving that, I've yet to see anything other than people stating what I just stated like it's a fact or something.

No, it has 10 more HP because of the dual cat setup.
