93 LT1 stumbling and surging
93 LT1 stumbling and surging
My GF has a 93 formula and when the air is on the car does a lot of light stumbling on the highway at a steady speed.Yesterday i was driving it and raced a late 90s cobra(he killed me BTW) and the car was majorly stumbling on the way back to the house. The car has never thrown a ses or anything and it gets great mileage but i noticed yesterday it felt so slow. When i floored it against the cobra the car boogged big time and slowly the power came on.I have always owned thirdgens and i have no idea where to look first. The car has a new opti, plugs, plug wires, etc.Where do i look first??Thanks for helping a turd genner out
Re: 93 LT1 stumbling and surging
my 93 did that same thing. with the air on at low speeds it would stumble and in 6th on the highway it would stumble sometimes. i tuned my chips VE and spark tables with a scanner and tuner cat and it doesnt do it anymore. plus my fans keep the car at around 175-180, the car only stumbled when it was hot stock with the fans comming on around 230. the temperature probably would help your car alone, switch to a 160 degree thermostat and get the fans modified to come on by reprogramming or get a fan switch.
Re: 93 LT1 stumbling and surging
No i havent gotten around to changing the fuel filter and the cat is probably stock. This car has about 140K on it.I guess i should start with the filter 1st.A buddy of mine has a chip burner and he is going to burn one for me that gets the fans on way before that red(like it does now).If the cat is stopped how do i go about finding out for sure??Muffler shop??
Re: 93 LT1 stumbling and surging
one way to check the cat, take it for a 'lively' drive and park it....run to the underside of the car and look at the cat, if its glowing red, its plugged....or if you can weld, you can always hack right in front of the cat and go for a test drive, if it feels much better theres your prob
