93-95 stroker?s
93-95 stroker?s
Hey guys I have a few ?s about building a 93-95 LT1 stroker,
1) first off,is the 3.75 crank just any old SBC stroker crank or is it a special LT1(93+) crank? (I've never heard of an LT1 SC but i am curious)
2) second the vehicle would obviously have headers and i know with my old 97 Z i got the LT4 KM, do the OBDI cars require this as well to aviod timing retard?
3) The 93 intake doesn't havre the the fuel rail cross over in the front, what exactly does this do (if anything) to/for the car?
4) when YOU built your 93-95 stroker did u use MAF or speed density?
5) I want this to be a 4 bolt main(for obvious reasons), who is a reputable company to have the block modified for the longer stroke and to convert it to 4 blot main?
6) With higher reving capabilities has anyone here on the board bought that Deltech Opti "conversion" thing that maintians spark efficiency above 4k? (and 4.8K on later model LT1s)
7) What size aftermarket TB are you guys runnin?? 52mm or 58mm?
8) I plan on getting AFR heads for this thing with SERIOUS work done on them, what are some of the most desirable LT diameters you guys chose??
9) Gas mileage and all that crap, emissions are no concern what are some cam/or cam specs you are all running?? I had the cc 305 in my Z28 which was awesome for a stock cube LT1 but im not sure that would be the best cam for a stroker, with the added cubes in mind...and 1.6 RR so what profiles did u guys use??
10) Like above no concern for gas/mpg+emissions what kinda cat backs are you running? or not running?
11) I want this to be a street car with some track use but mainly for my own enjoyment of "yanking out" an abused/ high mileage LT1 and giving it all the goods it deserves, i plan on doing this when i come home from be deployed (i've already started saving with $1100 in my savings account) but know this isn't a cheap "operation" about what kinda $$$ did u guys have to spend and what kinda no. did u get out of it??
12) I might get the hankering for a little "go fast gas" i was thinking an 10.0:1 compression "might"(?) be safe for like a 75-100 shot, would this be practical??
Thank you very much for your time reading all this! I know i went on for awhile but theres no way im gunna have a 10k paper weight sitting in the engine bay!

Re: 93-95 stroker?s
I can only help with a few of these: 1) all you need is a crank with a 1-piece rear main seal.2) An lt4 Km is probably a good idea.7) Get as big of a throttle body as you can, ideally a 58mm or a monoblade.9) For a cam, have one custom ground, just tell the guy making it your goals and he will take care of it.10) Most of the guys running strokers are running true duals, just do a search on this board for pics and ideas.11)I spent about 4-5 grand and did everything but the machine work, and I think i'm around 400rwhp.12) unlike boost, nitrous likes compression, the higher you can get away with the better. Just make sure your bottom end is built fot it. Right now i'm running about 11.8:1 and plan on spraying a 200 shot. Good luck with your project, and trust me-you'll realize all the trouble was worth it when you drive it for the first time.

3) Its for the fuel return. Don't know of any benefit.
4) MAF! Speed density takes alot of work to tune.
5) Any reputable machine shop should be able to take care of that. Expect to pay $$$$ for good machine work. Mine was $900+ including the conversion to slayed caps (that doesn't include the price of the caps themselves).
6) Not necessary, but if you can afford it, the LTCC system is probably a better choice if you want to run nitrous. It has built in retard control.
7) There are varing opinions on this, I have read and been told that a 52 is plenty unless you are going forced induction or a big cubed, solid roller, high spinner.
8) 1 3/4
11) I have spent around 6k not including the fogger kit, new tranny, and 12 bolt I still have to get.
12) I would shoot for at least 11:1. I will be running a 200 shot as well on my 12.8:1.
By the way, I noticed you said you was deployed. Where ever you are I hope you come home safe.
