92 Lt1 Caprice Motor?
92 Lt1 Caprice Motor?
Well friend of mine buying a motor out of 92 caprice cop car.. i didnt know they made lt1 that year for the cops.. anything different bottom end wise than a 94z? hes just using the block not the top half.. any castings he can look for? i know they had a smaller v8 that looked like lt1... any help would be great
Re: 92 Lt1 Caprice Motor?
I don't think the LT1 made it into anything other than the Y-body cars that year. Better look closely, it might be a standard SB Chevrolet or a transplant from a later year....
Re: 92 Lt1 Caprice Motor?
thanks i found some casting numbers from shoebox.. guy he talked to on phone said disty is on front and eveyrthing didnt send him any pics... so the numbers i found for lt1 are 10125327 on block and 10125320 and 12554290 for iron heads... and for the baby lt1 i found 10168588 for block and 10208890 for heads on it... maybe guy has no idea what it came out of just want to give him the right numbers before he goes to look at it
Re: 92 Lt1 Caprice Motor?
LT1 is easily to identify- the water pump is cam driven-not belt. The LT1 intake looks nothing like the TPI intakes, the distributor-(optispark assembly) mounted on the front of the motor as opposed to the typical rear mounted distributor.
Those are a couple EASY things to look for as opposed to trying to find and run casting numbers.
