92-94 Timing chain or gear set...where?

I need a good LT1 timing chain or gear set for the 92-94 year. Its gotta hold together for 550+HP, the stock one stretched.

Cloyes makes a nice gearset for like 350$ but it says 1995+ only, why is the timing chain/gear different? Can it be made to fit w/o alot of trouble?

Thanks

the only timing chain you can use is the stock one unless you change to an electric water pump and or vented opti. they do make a lunati for the 92-94 i think.

The Cloyes is only like $80. I don't think the double roller chains will fit in a 92-94 timing cover.

You'll need a cam gear that has the splined hole for the opti drivshaft, and the teeth for the water pump driveshaft, only one is a stock replacement type, unless you change to the 95+ type and go electric w/p. It would be nice to have something thats stronger, and would work for 92-94's, if anybody knows of one i'd like to know.

Just an FYI, the LT4 HD chain can be used with a stock waterpump.

I am running the Lunati set up. I think it was around $120 from summit. It seems to do the job just fine. I am not around 550+ though....not yet anyway

Thanks

Shawn,
So you're running a Lunati w/ an OBD1? Do you feel it's better than the OEM tc? Any problems? What's the pn? Do you have an electric water pump?
Thanks!

summit part #: LUN-93094 $109.69

If you just go to their web sit and type in the part # search it will come right up

Yes i am running it with OBD1 and stock waterpump. I have no problems and it works just like the stock one did.

It looks a little beefier. Pins in the chain seem a little thicker.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Shawn
