91 vs e85 vs e98

I know I ran across a thread some where where they where talkin about running e85, and the mods to do it... I know its bigger injectors a tune ect...
What about E-98? Its octane rating would be like 120 plus? And its not much more per BBL.(they dont sell E85 at the pump here on the Island) Makes compression look not so bad after all as it would be cheaper then the 91 right now!

What do u guys think? Then again this is coming from a conversation with someone who runs q16 and boosts like crazy in a srt4...

If E98 is 98% ethanol you'll have the same issues. The octane rating will simply allow you to run more advanced ignition timing but is not a measure of the energy available to your engine. Alcohol does not have anywhere near the energy content of gasoline so you're going to use much more fuel to get the same performance. It can be done, and it might be worth it....just not to me, LOL

Nice to burn something that is renewable, rather than a fossil fuel. Should be making cellulosic ethanol, rather than corn, but that is another discussion. Anything that keeps dollars here rather than the mid east is good in my book.

well since e98 is way cheaper then q16 I would see it a much more viable answer to detonation in a high compression engine, no? 20% less cost maybe close to that in fuel loss but 120 octane rating... you could run like 12:1 and still be pumping at the pump with E85 right?
