MAF upgrades aren't needed till you REALLY start pushin HP/RPM
I HIGHLY DOUBT that a MAF swap would give that much HP, except in an extreme case where the MAF was the primary restriction on the intake side. In your case... I'd say MAX 5hp... heck the only reason I changed mine was because my stock one failed, and I wasn't going to spend $300 on a replacement when the Z06 one costs $85.
Well my tint helps my HP alot, it keeps the inside cool so I dont run the AC therefore resulting in more HP
And dam i dont really have any smart excuse for my blackouts, you got me there.

blackouts on the front of a camaro smooth over the pocket formed by the stock recessed headlights, therefore smoothing airflow and creating a more aerodynamic shape..........easily resulting in atleast 50 rtwhp (ricer theoreticl wheel horse power).
and no......the maf wont do a thing for you..........its been proven that the stock maf is more than big enough to flow air for most cars, unless you have a serious F/I setup.
Well, obviously GM found a need to put it on the Z06 corvette ... which is pushing 425 flywheel hp ...... if this was such a terrible idea - then why didn't they use the stock LT1 or LS1 MAF?
if it made no difference, then why did they use a different MAF for the LS6 motor?
that is the $1.50 question....
EDIT: Z06 pushing 425 flywheel hp .... which is easily obtainable from the LT1. (heads and cam) Might look into portmatching the intake to heads and throttlebody.

Z06 gains anotehr 20hp

and port matching isn't going to bring you anywhere near LS6 stature.
when you find a way to get 15* heads, aluminum block, revised firing order, better (to be vauge) combustion chambers, equally spaced ports and a tuned intake manifold "easily" give me a call-
till then, i'm wrenching on the stroker saving for the Zr1 or Z06
whichever one i find more sexually appealing in 5-7 years

the LS1speed.com version - $150 (Last time I knew) is a direct plug and play unit.
the GM replacement Z06 part ($85) requires a cable from either Ed-Wright or Ramchargers to plug in the new MAF ($20) and either having your PCM programmed for the new MAF or programming it yourself.

I have LT1 Edit so that isn't a problem I don't think. What exactly needs to be changed, or is it just things like VE? Or is it a new MAF curve?
I borrowed a friend's Z06 MAF to see if I would realize any gains, nothing. The end of my Moroso CAI that connects to the MAF is 3.5", the Z06 is 4". I had to double up the rubber sleeves on the Moroso for it to fit smoothly. Seems to me the Moroso is a restriction. If it was 4" like the MAF, maybe there would be an improvement.
Well, my friend made 381rwhp on his stock displacement motor with 'Stage 2' ported heads (flow about 260 cfm intake and i believe 190-200 exhaust at .500 lift) and guess what cam he was using?
***A LT4 HOTCAM***
I couldn't believe it myself. i'm sure he'd gain a good bit more with a XE 224/230 or 230/236
oh, and that's 425 FLYWHEEL HORSEPOWER ... not rwhp out of a stock z06 motor .... 425 at the flywheel is VERY realistic for a LT1. Portmatching intake to t/b and whatnot is just something to squeeze every last little bit of hp out of what you have without more displacement or what have you.... a z06 MAF might not net you much, but it may have been enough to net my friend 385rwhp which is around what z06's make (from what i hear)
just my $.02
