847 cam w/ stock mahles??
847 cam w/ stock mahles??
has anyone tried this yet?i think the cam has like .558 lift.i know i could put it all together with some putty on the pistons and spin it over, but i was hoping sombody has gone through this befor.also, what thickness headgasket was used?
Not the same setup,,, but I have done
-SRP flat tops - 5cc valve relief
-3.5" stroke (3.48 is stock)
-5.7 rods
-847
-.039 gasket
-heads decked a good amount (stock castings)
-0 deck (.005 in at most)
When we put the putty in there was still an absolute ton of space. Squished the putty down into the reliefs and the valves never even touched it. In fact ran this setup for a while with a 252 duration .630 lift cam, which was too big for the street.
PTV contact has more to do with duration and valve timing than with lift. You should still always check no matter what though. Especially once you have changed out engine parts.

Check it if you must, but it should clear no problem. Its been run many many times with a stock shortblock in cam only cars. If you decked the heads a bunch and are running thinner gaskets and you zero decked the block, you might get close but i think you should still have plenty of room depending on how much you decked it. People run larger cams with tighter lsa's every day.
