Talking 80,000 miles on Mobli 1 and...............

I've never had even the valve covers off. Well I finally got to tear it apart for the heads and cam swap. Since I bought my bird new back in 95, I've had Mobil in it since about 4000 miles and was hoping it was worth the price. Least to say I was flabergasted! The motor was so clean on the inside you could wipe off the residual oil and eat off it. There was absolutely no build up anywheres. No discoloring no nothing. I have abused the motor and it has been quite warm before. I put in my 160 degree thermostat just two years ago with bolt ons and its been thru two clutches. Even on a couple of the cylinder walls you can still see some of the original cross hatching. The only thing I didn't like was some of the leaks the engine sprouted. Oh well, I would say its definitely worth the extra money.

Yeah, when we pulled my motor apart after 67,000 miles to do the stroker, I almost felt guilty not reusing the parts. The cross hatches were 100% intact, and the bearings were in great shape. Mobil 1 is good stuff.

But you gotta admit we're talking a Chevy small block here. 80k is nothing with maintenance.
