700R4 or 4L60E

I have a 94 A4, Can anyone tell me which trans I have, a 700R4 or a 4L60E???? Or can anyone tell me where I could find out. Thanx for the imput!!!

1994 and newer have a 4L60E. That is an electronically controlled 700R4. In 1993, they used the 700R4 and called it the 4L60, because it had no electronic controls.

You have neither of those

It's a 4l60-E. The 4l60 is just another name for a 700R4

i argued this w/ one of my freinds for a long time about his 94, he had his tranny done and on the receipt it said 700r4 so he thought he had a 700r4, but some parts are interchangeable i guess.
