700 rpm idle

I was playing around with some pcm setting to see what the effects on long term blm were. I set my idle high and then low and some other timing stuff. It did not make any real difference. When I set my idle at 700 and the t-trim vortech whine went away. Even the exhaust volume dropped quite a bit but still sounded mean. Oil pressure did not change much. Does anyone have any thoughts on keeping the idle at 700? I originally wanted the car to be a sleeper but that whine gave it away. Coolant temp seemed to drop too but that could have been a coincidence. I went to a American LeMans race not too long ago and they had a vette pace car. At one point they would let you out on the track to check out the cars. I walked past the vette and I didn't even realize it was running it was super quiet. The tach said 500 but you know how accurate those things are... Would there be any problems running the low idle long term?

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. IIRC, the automatic cars have their idle set close to what yours is now.

I'm planning on dropping my idle a bit. (Like me) you're running a pretty mild cam for a 383, which means it will idle well at a low RPM, and sound better. My idle is currently 875RPM, but I liked it better at the stock 800. I'll probably get it dropped to 700-750 when I get my PCM fine tuned. (If I ever get around to sending Bryan a datalog!)

I had madwolf set my idle to 650 when he did the mail order tune, I like it like that much better.

Mine is set to 850, just to get it to idle and not die.
