'69 Camaro in Popular Hotrodding

Have you guys seen the convertible '69 camaro in the latest Popular Hotrodding? It's got a 383, Accel super-ram intake, accel f.i., converted to rear distirbutor, and has CNC cylinder heads, cam, etc.

Anyway, the article state the engine makes 360 hp and 550 ft.lb. at the WHEELS. Is it possible that this n/a, pump gas, 383 is putting down those kind of numbers at the wheels? I can understand the hp, but not sure on the torque.

Wow this is the kind of torque you would expect from a Viper. Whats this thing sniffing on??? Diesel? talk about stroker.... must have extreme air velocity intake runners... all torque no HP huh?

I will keep an eye on this post. this doesnt sound right.

I dunno. I have seen plenty of Pontiacs make around 400 hp but 550+ lb ft of torque. But that's in 400's and 455's and they are known for the long stroke anyway. As far as the 383, ?

Actually there is sort of an argument going on about it over at pro-touring.com. Someone called the owner out on this claim, and both the owner and the builder stated that this was a fact, and is was tested several times.

I'm not trying to stir anything up. But if this torque number is possible, I think it'd be setting some sort of record or something.
