Re: 60' on stock stall

I got best of 14.3 at 96mph with a 2.18 on nittos on stock stall with 3.42 gears replacing my 2.73s.The track was unprepped that day and think should have been able to get a 2.0 but not sure if the stock converter can do that with mild mods. For mods had magnaflo catback,1le bellows,tb bypss, hpp tuning out,maf translator, air induction.spare tire and jack out.Raceweight 3825 spare tire in the car.Me in quarter tank.Car is a vert though so heavier.

Prior to his got best of 15.0 at 94mph forget the 60ft was on street tires.Didn't have the 3.42 or the magnalfow or the maft.

So pretty happy got 7 tenths improvement from somewhere.Thinking mostly gears and catback a bit from tires but comparing similar sixty foot runs this time like when did a 2.3 something with the nittos and 2.3 something on normal tires still was like 6 tenths faster now.I have read how gears dont' help sometimes but they sure seemed to for me.No way a catback gave me that much improvement but would say it did help the mph a bit.

My track is at 1900 feet above sea level and had a big headwind the day it ran 14.3.I was pretty sure could have got a 13.9 with a 2.0 60ft if the car could have done it.I wasn't heating the nittos up very much either so that might have made a difference.

I now have asp underdrive balancer,1.6 rockers and 2800 vig stall waiting for install in spring.I would think that would let me hit low 13s with mabye some et street radials.Course will be kicked off track unless can run under new pure stock rules. Might be able to get away with that.
I also am planning maybe some mac headers this year and possibly spray for off track use.Figure with headers should be in the 12s.and 11s with spray.

On the stock stall with 3.73s and a handful of bolt-ons, my best 60' on BFG drag radials was a 1.78 at Atco Raceway in NJ. The ET for that run was a 12.96 @ 107 (forgot about the ET).

Re: 60' on stock stall

Mine was 1.86 with nittos dead hooking, but my tranny was slipping so I think that might have hurt it. And if with 3.73's you shift out of 1st in the first 60' then it definatly hurt me since it boucned off the limiter a few times before it shifted, but I'm not sure if it shifts that early in the run.
And this is with the heads/cam, not just boltons...

Re: 60' on stock stall

Ran my 97' bird for the first time yesterday. I've had the car for about a month now. Only mods are a K&N intake and flowmaster muffler set up. After several runs I cut a 2.03 on street tires with a smooth roll out. I think its got some high 1.8's or low 1.9's on drag radials with a prepped track. Driver skill and a feel for the track is a big factor though. I cut a 2.5 on my first run btw. Times are in updated signature.
