Talking 6 speed installed need help

i have installed a 6 speed in my car (94 z28) and it is not reading the speed correctly -- was an auto car.
can i get the dealer to reprogram my car or does anyone know another way to do this with out breaking the bank?
if anyone works for a dealer and is in DFW area can they help or recommend someone?
i have a hypertech III but i think i need a standard brain to use it --i do not know if they have an upgrade for this situation
any help would be nice thanks

You need to have the PCM reprogrammed for the M6. The A4 and the M6 VSS sensors produce different number of "pulses per mile"... one has a 17-tooth reluctor, the other has 40-tooth.

A dealer could flash it to M6, you could get LT1_Edit and have a valuable tool for future tuning, you could have a mail-order tuner change the program......

Talking

i just found the links for lt1 edit and tunercat-- can these tools program the pcm from auto to standard and back?
will this also deal with the issues that the auto trans shifter position switch sends to the pcm for egr, idle, and fuel control?
should i buy a spare pcm to play with in case i screw something up or just use the one i have?
i also do not have the 6 speed wiring harnes installed so i do not know if this will affect any or all programing???
sorry for so many questions i just know you guys always can help find the best answers.
thanks again

Hmmm... I'd be worried about that. You've got some stuff in there like your reverse lockout solenoid and then some other thing that keeps the engine from starting while it's in gear. I assume you still have the auto key cylinder for the steering column (the one that doesn't have the button)?

AFAIK, you'll be ok without changing the harness, just be careful that you don't try to start it in gear or you could mess stuff up.

Good luck!
