58mm TB is not too big!

Just installed on on my TA and I can feel a noticable gain. I know people go around and around about it being too big for bolt on LT1's. Im going to get it dynoed to see just how much I did gain. Later!

Hopefully you have some "before" numbers to compare to (otherwise there is not much point). Post back the resuslts.

Slap on a 52mm TB and tell us if you feel a difference.

Id do it if I had someone with a 52mm available. It's nice haveing one tho, it takes a lost less throttle to get the car moving! Pull's better up top and the throttle reasponse increase has made the car more reasponsive in the lower end. So Id have to say it improved preformance across the board. But only the dyno will show it.

The feeling of a gain and an actual gain are two different things. A throttle body often feels like much more of a gain than it actually is, since for any given throttle opening you are moving more air. Essentially, you are effectively opening up the blades the same amount as before with less pedal movement. Throttle response is mighty impressive, but the gains often stop there.

I'm not saying you didn't gain anything. I'd just like to see the real results.

All I noticed with mine is a crisper Throttle response...I mean it makes sense that no matter how much air you pump into the engine, the engine is only going to take what it needs.

OK, we have all read many posts about gains/no gains from a TB upgrade.

I know our 48mm TB's are good for at least 400 HP, right? I know I have read that from some of the best board members in the past. I too am curious if you see any gain.....

Now, I have a question.......I think I read on another post a while back that our intakes are already ported properly for a 52mm TB, just the gasket needs to be trimmed, is that correct?

Do you have to port the intake to use the 58mm TB?

I guess the reasons I am asking is that I was going to remove my TB and polish it (or have it polished ) but maybe I would rather buy a new one already polished and clean.

So, if you all were to buy one, which would you buy and which would you steer clear of?

Thanks everyone for all this great information on this board. It is really amazing the pool on knowledge here!

I would stay clear of the Holley TB. Nice and shiny but tempermental. And to add, poor customer service unless you are buds with one of the techs.

i honestly cant justify paying $400 for a 58mm tb when the real restriction is in your heads.

doesn't matter how air you can get into the intake manifold if it cant get down the heads.

please do a before and after, I'm very currious
