58mm TB for a 1997 SS..

I'm sure there are countless guys that have done this. I picked one up and the stock intake tube is too small. Does anyone make a reducer hose so I can reuse my stock elbow? Thx!

What brand is the 58mm TB? I've seen this swap done with no problems on many non-SS cars with the rubber inlet elbow. Not sure why the SS plumbing would be a problem. Got a photo?

This guy:
Camaro/Firebird 1994-'97 LT-1 Throttle Body 58mm Satin

The opening is larger than the stock TB. Large enough that the stock rubber elbow will not fit....

Can't explain it. Buddy of mine had a 58mm BBK on his 97 SS with no problems. My Holley 58mm has identical flange dimensions to the stock 48mm TB. In 20 years on sites like this, never heard of anyone having problems with the fit. Maybe some other SS owners can chip in.

Re: 58mm TB for a 1997 SS..

I contacted their Tech Support today at 1-323-306-5067. He said they have been selling it for about 10 years now and have had numerous complaints about that. He said he doesn't know how guys are making it fit, because he knows it is a really tight fit, but they are getting it on. He said maybe they are stretching it or heating it, he didn't know.

He said they had to make it larger because of the bore increase ??????

Now there is some great tech support !!!!!!! Yikes

My 58 mm is considerably larger than the stock one. I was able to stretch the STS rubberized elbow to fit over it though, with the help of a small flat headed screwdriver. Maybe the stock elbow can stretch to fit also?

I guess the Chinese didn't "exactly" copy the US product they were ripping off.

To fit the Fernco 3” sewer pipe connector over my Holley, I heated it in hot water to make it a bit more pliable.
