52mm Throttle body?

Alright here it is. I have decided to get a 52mm throttle body my question is. What company makes one that will give me the best bang for the buck?? Also what website could I go to, to get it at?? I know I hear that they don't really give that much of a gain if any to a stock motor blah blah blah but I don't care I want to find out for myself. If anything it should have some better throttle response I would think. One day this car will have a head/cam package so I am building from here or if I blow it up a stacked 355 and nitrous

Also will I be needing a tune or anything of that sort?? Will this mess up my idle if so what should I do to fix it??

I don't know about the "bests bang..." but I believe that AS&M may still sell you a modified stocker when you send them your core. The product is good.
Some others like Holleys have been known to be probematic as far as plug and play.

There used to be some guys on here who can modify your stocker for a reasonable price.

I bought a stocker on the cheap off this site and traded it in on an AS&M and am quite happy with it. I keep the stocker just for a spare. JMHO

Re: 52mm Throttle body?

When the time comes for me to get a 52mm TB, I will be going for the TPIS unit. Price is right, and they claim 900CFM I believe...

I've run one on the car and even though it was messed up, throttle response was awesome. That's because of the increased airflow I guess, but the car REALLY responded to even slight throttle changes. I never did run it WOT though to see if there was a difference there.

The issues with the Holley units has since been fixed. I have a Holley 52mm on my car, and am completely happy. The only thing I needed to do was to reslot the TPS to get proper voltage, but you'll probably need to do that with any aftermarket throttle body.

when i changed my tb i got a bored out stocker from lpe the workmanship was great and it was a little over 200 for the job i think. never had a problem with it. if you want to get another core to send them just go on ebay and look for one $15-30 if you check at the right time.

NOMAD on here bores and rebuilds stock TB's for around $200. Shoot him a PM.

Koldos gets good marks from the Vette cowd and I think they are hard to please. In an automatic car you want to have the pcm reprogrammed for this. Basically line pressure is TPS referenced and now the car will make more power at lower throttle angles, so you need a little more line pressure to compensate or you wear out the clutches faster than necessary. Another option woulkd be to put in the Transgo vacuum modulator which takes away the pcms control of line pressure and then does it only based on vacuum.
