52, 58, or monoblade?
52, 58, or monoblade?
I have an LE2 H/C combo on a 383 with all the bolt ons, hookers, and 3" true duals.
Currently running a 52mm TB because people have told me I might have idle problems with a 58mm because I'm an A4.
Any truth to that? Or should I go 58 or monoblade?

Re: 52, 58, or monoblade?
I think people have problems with monoblades, not 58mm. I just put a 58mm on my car when I put on my ported intake manifold, but I'm not done yet so I can't comment on the idle quality. I think with A4's you need to have the tranny line-pressure reprogramed because get more air in per % of your throttle position though.
Re: 52, 58, or monoblade?
I have a 93' with the 58mm holley. I did have to drill a small hole on each throttle blade to get my iac counts down. they were pegged before, now I have them down around 57..seems to idle much better... no other probs. that I am having out of the t.b. seems to be working great.
Re: 52, 58, or monoblade?
When we had my 381 on an engine dyno, we found the 58mm TB was flowing all the air the engine could use (500 flywheel HP) with the blades only 77% open. The engine could have made the same power with a 52mm TB 100% open. A monoblade would seem to be overkill.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
