4.10s would really help my car out but I plan to spray it and don't want to run out of gear. I might just switch to 3.73s

I've been considering a 503 cam do you have to get bigger injectors, t/b, or a tune with this cam? I know a tune would help with a new cam but im on a small budget and it might be a month or two before I could get a tune so would it be ok without one?

I am on stock injectors and TB. I would suggest getting a tune from either MadZ28 or PCMsforless. Its not going to be as good as a dyno tune but it will help out a lot.

you are going to need injectors in order to get everything out of the 503 cam. It will make 340-350rwhp if setup up properly and the stock 24's are only good till 315-325rwhp. Otherwise you ll be at or near 100% duty cycle.

My times are in sig with 503, but I'm not sure why I'm trapping so much lower than everyone.

to run good at the track I would run 4.10/4.11s and a 3600-4000 stall.

to run good on the street I would run 3.73s and a 2800-3200 stall.

looking at my setup what would you change first the gears or the stall? will be driven about 4K a year, track several times a year, the car will spend alot of time on the highway in lock up.

I've got a cam with the same duration on the way. I've already got a 3200 Vigilante converter that flashes to about 3800 behind my stock motor and 4.10s. Maybe someday I'll go looser on the converter and deeper on the gears...

since you have a 9" but want highway manners I would split the difference between 3.73s and 4.10s. go with a 3.90 or something similar. I forget what 9"s offer. was it 3.89s?

my 383 had a TCI 3500 that acted like a 4000+ rpm stall. shift extensions were high. I think with that smaller cam you wouldn't need as big of a stall as mine had. 3400-3600 max. I wouldnt change it unless something happened to it or the trans that necessitated removing the trans.

how big was the cam you had in your 383? i was thinking down the road of pulling my heads and having bee hives installed and let lloyd port them some more and have a cam ground for it.

It was an LE3 cam from almost 3 years ago. I'm sure the grind isn't used any more but I still won't post the full specs. it was a 24x/24x, 10x LSA, under .600" lift. it was a pretty healthy cam but worked real good.
