503 cam questions.

I am planning on getting a 503 cam for my 93 z28 and there were a few questions I have. First i was wondering if there was a kit with all of the valve train components I will need for the swap. Another thing I wanted to know is if I should get a higher stall for my car, and if there were any other mods I need. This last thing is a little off topic but I was thinking about getting a b&m transmission cooler and I was wondering if anyone knew what size would fit in my car.

My current mods are just k&n air intake, hooker long tube headers, and loudmouth exhaust.

No kit that i know of. Not sure on the stall mines a M6, but with the way it works I would guess yes on the torque. With the stock heads you may be able to get away with the stock injectors, but i would suggest a 52mm TB and a set of 30# injectors. And of course a good tune!!!! I used Ion from Maddz28 and his tune was almost bang on, I only gained 12 HP with a dyno tune. Its a fun cam but I wish i would have gone BIGGER! But my cars a weekend toy.

I drove mine with the stock stall converter for a summer (before converting to an M6) and had no troubles. If you are on street tires it won't matter much because you will be spinning them from a stop anyways. As far as valvetrain I'd recommend installing whatever springs, retainers and keepers CC recommends, some quality pushrods and also a quality set of roller rockers. It is probably also a good idea to replace the valve seals while you have everything apart. I personally like the viton material.

I ran the 24 lbs in my setup, as I did not have the heads ported. I would recommend talking to your tuner as they will be able to tell you if they can tune your setup for the injector size you want to run. BTW- I used PCMforless to tune my car.

I was just looking at the advanced induction website and was reading about their 218/226 cam which they compare to the 503. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that. And I will probably do what mat said, and for now focus just on the valve train.

Never mind my last post, I'm going to go with comp cams 503. I'm going to get all of the recommended parts that comp cams has listed for their 503 except instead of getting the 1.52 rocker arms I was thinking about the 1.6. My only question now is if going with the 1.6 going to be worth it, and will the rest of the parts they suggest work still?

Get 1.6 rr. And I believe they recommend either 915 or 918 beehive springs. Don't get the 915's I found out the hard way I bought them then my head porter wouldn't install them because he said they didn't have enough pressure for the cam which they don't. Or get pac 1518's.

From: NY...what a bad place for a nice car
i got the comp 918 1.6rrs with the 9/16 or 3/8 studs cant remember lol and pushods. Thats a really good settup for that cam. Personally that cam was a little small for me. A 3k stall would prolly work well with that settup if your racing it. If its a daily or driven more than just on the weekends its a fairly good cam for that reason. If its a weekend worrior go bigger
