500hp N/A All bore no stroke?

Is this at all possible on a lt1? I see standard 350s all the time with 600 plus hp at the crank. But everytime I look at the lt1 it seems to dive out around 450 or less. For all those I am thinking at the wheels meaning you would need around 600 n/a at the fly. I know that all thing are possible it just depends how much moey you got. So what would it take to get there?

bore isn't the "deal." sure it adds some minimal amount of cubes and unshrouds the valves a touch- but bottom end isn't where the power is

there are guys pushing 420rwhp+ on stock bottom ends. that equates to WELL over 500 at the crank.

Shouldnt be too hard with the right heads/cam combo

my stock bottom end with 142k miles did 409.1rwhp N/A with 17% drivetrain loss thats 478.63 flywheel hp

i was going to ask the same question but was going to ask about 450rwhp instead of 500. should be a little easier to obtain.

You can get close to 500 na rwhp. It is going to take: As many cubes as you can get(396 and up) AFR 195, 210, 220 heads ported to the max. A one big cam. What your looking to do few have done. There are a few guys in here that have put down those numbers, but they are the few. And most likely have a good idea of what they are doing. The costs are going to be high.

If you got the $$$ then give Mindgame a pm. He has over 500+rwhp out of his 383 LT1 If he is willing to share.

thats the thing I dont want to stroke, any one can bore and stroke to make more hp but its more of a challange to get the same #'s or better out of a 350. So far I have researched for about three weeks and am still researching n/a is the only way to go.

Many of those big-hp small blocks you're talking about have some unreal head gear. Heads like these:

http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/gmgoodwr...373&section=ep

Scroll on down to see the beasts. The 15* heads Mindgame used (converted) are listed on that page at the bottom. With heads like those you'll have no problem hitting 500+ NA hp if your setup is right. They'll walk all over the 23* castings normally used.

Problem is, heads like the SB2.2s go for over 4 grand a set.

you are going to need a completely forged set of internals-
so why aren't you thinking 396? would make your life a LOT easier with 46 more cubes...

honestly, at that price level, i'm thinking LSx

Destroke it and spin it to the moon.

I have still yet to hear a valid performance argument for destroking or against stroking

personal goals and class limitations aside...

Or build a 383 spin it to 8k and eat those FI ricers with all NA power.

With 15 degree heads, lightweight valvetrain, the proper cam, and high revs you could easily build a 500rwhp LT1, just wont be very streetable.

I wouldn't destroke....but he wants to do something different instead of stroking. Why other than to be different, I don't know.

There's plenty of valid reasons to de-stroke. It's just whether or not they're applicable to these guys that matters .

FWIW.. 500hp NA isn't too bad on a stock displacement shortblock, it just takes a killer topend to do it & keep it driveable .
