pull the spark plug out, check for closed gap.

check cylinder compression

swap the #5 injector with #7, see if miss moves to 7.

I took the injector to a shop that has a injector testor/cleaner. The injector has only 100 miles on it if that. Gonna do a compression check tomorrow...... Would a stuck valve cause this ?

stuck valve would do it. or a blown spring. If your compression is off, pull the valve cover, start the car, check the springs and valves for proper operation.

personally......i would try the injector swap first before moving forward. just to triple check the injector. wont take long and wouldnt hurt none. but thats just me.

If it were a stuck valve, it would have to be the exhaust, right? Because the gas had to come into the cylinder via the intake valve. But if the plug was firing, the gas would be consumed, right? If the exhaust valve did not open, the exhaust would try to burp out through the intake valve the next time it opened.

87 LT1 T/A, you said in an email to me, that you had gas evidence at the O2 sensor, right? That would mean the exhaust valve must be opening for it to get to that point. (I won't say right?)

Lots of gas at the O2... The crap just poured out of the exhaust pipe....I'm new to figuring out the workings of an engine, so please excuse my lack of knowlege. If the cylinder isn't firing but I'm still getting gas into it, wtf.... Cracked head ?

Have you proven good spark to that plug?

Going back to my other post, I guess you could consider that the exhaust valve might be stuck open and if the plug were too soaked to fire (plus no compression), the gas may just end up pouring out to the exhaust manifold. Do the basics and check spark and compression.

We'll keep fingers crossed that is not something major.

Got a compression check today and the #'s are at 195 on all cylinders except the #5 cylinder which is at 175. Took the valve covers off to see if the valves were doing their thing, everythings ok. Checked for spark on all cylinders, good spark on all except #5 (very weak) opti ?

Could be, best bet would be to check the wire for a bad connection to the opti, try some di-electric grease on both ends of the wire. I had a plug misfiring because the opti end of the wire was not "clicked" into place.

Dielectric grease was used on all plug connections. Gonna bite the bullet and replace the opti and coil this weekend..... thanks fellaz.....
