4L60E Question- Revving Nowhere Fast
4L60E Question- Revving Nowhere Fast
NORMALLY my car would run 13s at 100+ on average. Yesterday I took the car to the track and couldn't muster better than a 14.1 @ 98.80mph. I've been comtemplating where I lost the beef, and I"ve come to the conclusion that it's happening through the transmission. Aside from that, over a year ago, I had my transmission rebuilt by some of the most incompetent fools you could shake a stick at (name not released for their protection).
Anyway, that aside, here's what's happening. When I roll into the throttle at the start, the transmission will sometimes drop a gear if it's shifted into 2nd. Normal. But here's what happens. If I'm moving at around 20mph, and drop the foot, the trans will kick down, the rpms will fling up to around 5000rpm, and THEN after this rigamarole, the car FINALLY gets off its *** and takes off like a bat out of hell. Well, during this "fling-up" period, the car's moving, but then it just doesn't take off until after it hits the next gear, be it 2nd or 3rd.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I just don't remember this happening until AFTER I had brought my car to these crooks to get fixed.

Sounds exactly what my Z24 is doing. And I know that is the trans slipping.. I would take the car to another shop for an opinion. Sounds like it is the trans.

They couldn't put in a torque converter that didn't leak, so I had to bring it back for a "new" torque converter. I then had to return AGAIN because they weren't competent enough to "line up" my gears on my shifter correctly. The car would pop out of "Park" and then surge forward. Then I bring it back with fluid leaking all over the place and they tell me it was a puddle in the "cross-member"
. So they "blow" the fluid out of the "cross-member" (I'm sure they sipped it out). THEN the trans starts hesitating before moving in 1st gear. This was a slippage problem, I'm assuming. So, I bring it back and they hold the car for over 1 month. I'd call and ask if the car was finished and the owner would say, "Well, I haven't experienced AT ALL what you're talking about." Funny. It happened every time the car was cold, and every day. I guess when I brought the car to Chesapeake Transmission to be fixed, it just stopped all of a sudden
. They just didn't want to fix their f*ckup. On this trip, they gave me a new valvebody. How white of them
. I should have had one with a rebuild anyway, am I correct? Isn't a "rebuild" a transmission that's rebuilt with all new parts, or is there something I'm missing?
I tried to be patient with these people, and I'd say I did a good job, and for my patience, I also got screwed out of $1300 by these crooks. They had a nice pile of junk-trannies in the backyard by their shed, which I am convinced that my "rebuild" came from them.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS! THEY DO NOT DO QUALITY JOBS, THEY DO NOT LIKE TO GIVE THEIR CUSTOMERS DOCUMENTATION OF THE WORK DONE ON THEIR CARS (I can't imagine why), THEY DO NOT PROVIDE THE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THEY CLAIM TO, AND THEY DO NOT LIKE TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES.
ALL of these problems happened within 5,000 miles of the new transmission being in the car.
BTW, I've still got a transmission leak. And yes, I know the transmission isn't low on fluid and this isn't the cause of the problem, because I check it daily.
I would have called Chesapeake Transmission AFTER my warranty period of 1 year was up (only 5,000 miles on the car in that year), but I knew they weren't competent enough or decent enough to fix my car under their guarantee of good work. I will be taking my car to a competent shop, and I'm sure I'll end up shelling out another $1300 to cover their f*ckup.
