427 LT1.....How would I go about doing this.

I was wondering what Id need to make a 427 LT1. I wanted to get it sleeved for the bigger bore say 4.125 if possible and what size crank will I need? I am going to do basically an experiment here.

lt1? sleeves?

First you buy a dozen or so blocks, because it takes a lot of luck and a perfect factory block to punch out that big.

just curious but why do you have your mind set on building a "427" ? seems like building based on HP goals and what you want to motor to do, race, street/strip, daily driver... etc. would give you more options on putting your combo together.

Well my curren engine in my 96 is in my signiture and it will make damn near 480-500 hp. What I was going to try to do is, I bought a T/A for $700.00 93 and I wanted to build an LT1 427 that has the same specs or near the same specs as an LS7 to see if I could get more power out of the LT1 despite what any of you or the LS1 guys say, I put LS1 guys away in my current car.

If you're going to do this you might want to abandon the Lt1 heads and go with something like 18 degree heads to feed that much displacement.

lt7 has 11 deg heads..they are in a different league. If your gonna spend the kind of money to reach 427 cubes in a lt1 just to chase the ls7...save your cash.

If you really want the extra performance from 30 some extra cubes, just jet some nitrous up 50hp and call it a day.

Hell you don't even need a block with good bores if you are going to sleeve all of them. Either way it seems like a lot of work to cripple them with bad heads, might as well put real heads on there! The LS7 is a killer head, might as well go LS if you want to do that.

I'd be concerned with having a fast car, rather than making power a specific way. If your goals are 500+hp, perhaps some power adders are in order.

If you want a 427 the LT1 is the wrong move.

Why not just throw a 416 L92 bottom end in it with some L92's ported by a reputable porter not the cheap *** patriots or TSP heads that keep pulling the studs out of the ports.

Might as well just put an LS7 in it. Probably be cheaper!
