Humm...400hp on stock injectors I would swap them out instantly if I were you. They are at or past 100% duty cycle, which they dont enjoy at all. All in all that seems like a good price for a stroker longblock, but I would look at what quality parts it has in it. (ie, are the pistons hypereutectics...probably) and so on. Make sure you are happy with the quality of the internal parts.

well thats crank hp.........so hed be seeing around 340-350rwhp.........but once again, i think thats about the max reliable limit for stock injectors i would run.

400 hp at the crank on a 383???? That doesn't sound like very much to me!!!! I'm making 362 at the wheels with the mods listed in my sig! Although the 383 is putting out a good torque number...which is what really counts anyhow!! I'm on stock injectors too! No probs!

Any LT1 making 400crank hp...about 345rwhp(with 14% loss guesstimate) will be maxing out(so to say) stock injectors. You dont want injectors to be over 80% duty cycle or they will eventually overheat(to say the least) caues they are open all the time. Plus that doesnt leave your injectors/pcm much room to compensate for lean mixtures. Im guessing youll be at right at 100% maybe 101+% duty cycle. I suggest you get autotap or the like software and scan it ASAP after its running to verify it.

Also, if you want. Do a search for stock injectors max hp. Bettter yet...here is a link to a post with proof, by madwolf. Stock heads, LT headers, 233/239cam and bolt ons(for the most part). He is over 100% with 34xrwhp. Also, when I would run my bolt on LT1 with 125crank hp shot dry kit...it would be at 103%+ on stock injectors. Good luck.

Ed Wright programmed my PCM and didn't say there would be a problem with stock injectors!! The local performance shop said I would be fine too!!!
But I would like to hook up LT1 edit or something like that to get the real numbers!!

BTW, Ed Wright also locks the PCM so you cant even access the comptuer with your own LT1 edit. Who the hell knows what info he is putting in there. I would NOT trust a guy like that.

Ed fans, dont flame me now. This is just my opinion.

Yep, he sure does.

Does it so no one copies his work.
You want to re-tune? You either send it back to him or you buy a new PCM.

Nice, eh?

Well, I have to admit I'm a little PO'ed about that!! You wouldn't happen to know if there is a way around this 'lock', would you???
I spent a ton of $$$ on his programming and I don't really want to spend a whole lot more everytime I want to tweak it!!!

Of course there is a way around the lock...locks are ment to be unlocked also at times. The thing is, you usually need the key to unlock a lock I have never seen a PCM of his in person or tried to access one so I dont know first hand how it works or anything. Im sure if you got lots of computer skills it would be possible to break into it/crack the code he uses.

Basically your only options now are what TEEK said above

Humm...could his lock be something as simple as changing the Vin number LT1 edit sees to veryify a PCM!?!? I mean, since he would obviously have the unlimited version of LT1 edit it wouldnt be an issue for him. But, It would keep most all people out with LT1 edit, unless you spent $2500 on an unlimited one. Probably not that simple, but you never know!

Ed does lock his PCM's. He doesn't use LT1 edit to program.
You might be able to just have it reflashed by the dealer but you would lose everything. I purchased LT1 edit after having his program for three years and always having knock issues. I got very tired of having to send my PCm back to him everytime I needed something changed.
After LT1 edit and a dyno tune I picked up 30rwhp.

as for that engine I think thats a lot of money for what a stock LT1 will do with a hot cam and bolt ons.
I'm sure Combination motorsports or someone else could build you a long block that would pass emissions and make a lot more power.

My car with a auto made 329 rwhp. I just converted to a 6 speed
so I'm guessing I'm around 345rwhp now with just the hot cam and bolt ons.

You can buy Combinations street 355 that has forged rods and pistons and have them put on some ported heads for that kind of money and probably have 40rwhp more and a stronger short block

I could almost be of help soon....if I had the tools in hand. Your right. Its nothing a good reflashed chip couldnt fix. Im getting ready to start my own little computer fixing/tuning business inpartnership with CHR racing products in the near future. I have a crap load of eprom/prom/blah/blah/programmers/erasers/chips/sockets/A wideband O2 sensor(for local tunes)/new laptop/another new PC/Spec sheets for about every car/engine,cam,heads, turbo, s/c /etc combo that exists(in the ricer world for the most part)/stock spec sheets/lots of software(virtural engine applications...and some others like desktop dyno that I already have) are all on the way. I have been having a hard time deciding if I want to register as a business...and write all these expneses off, but pay taxes. Or, consider it a hobby for now. Eat the initial startup fees , but keep everything tax free. Decisions, Desicsions. Also, Im still deciding on a name it I make it a business and still deciding on the format I want to use make my business site.

I got 3 different programmers on the way. 1 for Domestic, 1 for majority of the Import cars computers/chips...as well as 1 for home PCs(for local PC fixes) that can program nearly any chip on the market. However, Im still in the buying/setting up process and deciding which room to convert to make the "work room". I figured since I have 4yrs worth of computer school, love cars and hate working for other people that this will be a good business to start. I am also having some help from the above mentioned place. He is where most all my customers will come from(ie, Included in there "Race Heads" package will be my tuning fee and all heads that get that package will get tuning I put a big investment into this and hope to make it very worthwhile in the near future for all my customers.

Anyhow, I know Im of no use now...Im basically just spreading the word that Ill soon(well, soon meaning in the next 6months or so) be fixing/tuning PCMs for you guys(as well as the ricer world, lol). Acutally, Im going to be doing mainly ricers at first...cause thats the majoity of the business for that shop.
