4 bolt main caps - HELP

Ok almost done with my stroker motor. I have a 4340 eagle crank, with some 6 inch eagle h-beam rods, weisco flat top pistons. Joe overton custom cam. Should be making some descent horsepower. I will be running up to 200 shot of nitrous.

I am really contemplating making it a 4 bolt main. Will 4 bolt caps off a lt4 bolt block work on our lt1 motors?

If not what type of splayed cap should I go with. My machinest is charging 300.00 in labor.

I welcome everyone's opinion on this.

Thanks,
Mike

You would need to have any of the caps bored and honed to match your block. I went with pioneers ($75) and had them bored and honed. You can drill and tap the block, and file the caps to mate with your block yourself to save a little cash. I had to mill the caps on the edges to clear the oil pan also.

Good luck,

The stock 4-bolt caps are grey iron, one step below nodular iron which is in turn a step below steel caps. The labor to convert to the 4-bolt caps is considerable, I think I would get better caps if I were going to bother.

I agree 100%. I would look into some Callies Caps. I think they are around $300.00 last time I checked.
