I would say 500.00 would be a good starting point. I have seen 2-bolt blocks go for 350.00.

500? good God!

the 2 bolt go for like 150-200, you can convert em over and have a stronger block for almost the same price.

I was under the assumption the block included the caps. Aftermarket caps are around 250.00. I can tell you the amount you pay to have you block splayed will depend on the machine shop. My current setup is splayed and I can tell you for a fact that it was not cheap.

There is also no evidence that a splayed conversion is more effective or "stronger" than the stock straight 4-bolt configuration. Splaying will often put holes in the webs exactly where you do not want to lose metal. The quickest LT1 to-date (1,125HP flywheel) used a stock 4-bolt block, with no fill.

I would say $500 should be a reasonable price. I sold my 2-bolt block for $300.

You might be able to get $500 but on ebay in the last year I haven't seen one go anywhere that high.
$350 has been the going price for a 4 bolt and lately the 2 bolt blocks can't be given away.
I do think you can get more than $350 because when the blocks sold for that price there have been a lot of bidders

yes 500 sounds about right, considering both machine shops I talked to wanted 100$ +caps(200-250)+ an align bore to convert mine.

I must have struck a super deal when I bought my 4-bolt block + stock pistons and rods for $110.

well it does have the caps too. i dont know where you get that a 2 bolt converted is stronger. like injuneer said if anything there weaker. not everybody needs a 4 bolt, just the ones that are serious and those are the people that are willing to pay for it. i dont want to rob anybody but i do want to get what its worth. plus i have no idea what it cost to ship a block. im sure its not cheap.

Uh fred was talking about straight 4 bolt vs splayed NOT straight 4 bolt conversions vs factory.

a 4 bolt conversion is going to be stronger than a factory 4 bolt in most cases. Most people wont use aftermarket caps with the stock 4 bolt, which makes it weaker than a converted one.

I guess start it at 500 and see if anyone will bite, but not gonna be me. I can convert my current already machined block for less money.
