4.10's broke, should I go 3.73?

Pulled my rear end cover off today to do a fluid change, well not only did fluid come out, a couple ring gear teeth did as well:-) I knew my 4.10's were on there last leg so now its time to get new ones. My question is, I do not want a gear that is going to break again. Is it true that the 3.73 is a much stronger gear in the 10 bolt? I am looking for a little bit lower RPM on the highway as well so I think 3.73 is gonna be the way to go. I took my car all but once to the track with the 4.10's and rarely do street launches. Can you say 4.10's SUCK in 10 bolts!!!! I think I am going to head over to Speed Inc monday and have them install some Motive 3.73's. Whats your opinions of the 3.73 vs the 4.10 in the 10 bolt?
thanks

there wont be enough of a strength difference to justify doing it for that reason if thats what you are asking

There won't be much of a strength difference but the 3.73's will be slightly stronger. Which ever gear you decide to go with try using ratech's solid spacers instead of the normal crush sleeves. They allow you to preload the bearings a bit more and add a bit of strength to the gear set. Also try an aftermarket cover. (t/A girdle)

I am already using the ratech solid spacer so thats ok, but I just thought that the 3.73 were a lot stronger like the stock 3.42's.

I switched form 4.10s to 4.11s. Theoretically they are stronger because they have fewer but bigger teeth than 4.10s (some people disagree) But with over 400rwhp, stick shift, BFG drag radials and nearly 100 lauches at the track this year, they've held up fine.

GM Motive makes the 4.11s. If you do decide on going with 3.73s, get GM Motive anyway.

I dont think the problem is the 410's..many run them in 6spds w/ no problems....i dont think it would be a huge differance if u went w/ either or ratio
