4.10 gears, too much?

I have a pretty much stock 94 z28 and i want to put BFG comp t/a P255 / 50 R16 drags on my stock wheels. If i were to put 4.10 gears into the 160,00 mile rear end, would i be pushing the limits of the pos 7.5" . What do you thing the max rwhp rating it could take would be, because i plan to put on every bolt on possible and the last thing i want to buy is a 2200 12 bolt.

YES. Considering A. the mileage and B. you plan to do every bolt on possible. Max hp...I don't know. Really depends on how you treat the rear. You can't go around smacking it around. (on the decel then just hammering it) I would recommend either using some of that money for a rearend, or just don't do gears. Although one thing to consider, once you getting enough power the rears gonna go If you think you'll ever do nitrous or blower, then the 4.10s would be too much anyway.

4.10 and daily driven

at least until last year when I got a new daily driver. I love the gears. They make the M6 alot more fun to drive. I only have about 310 hp at the crank though. I have catback and a cam that will kick it up a notch and we will see how long she holds out.

It's all in the launch. That's what 2 of my friends with M6's said and they ran MT ET STREETS on there stock rear ends. One of which ran 11's for a season. You have to load up the rear end before you dump the clutch. It is easier if you have a line lock.

Tons of people. I know a guy around here, with cat-back, lt4 hotcam, maybe a few other small things...with 4.10s and 120 some odd miles! Drive it smartly and it will last. HOWEVER I have a feeling you are gunna build one mean car, and if you are, you are gonna need one strong rear end. Just my .02

ohh i am, in the winter i plan to rebuild the engine and stroke it to a 396 with a xe 230/236 cam. i am hopin for at least 420 rwhp by next spring. i am thinkin about just using a 8.5 inch rear end out of a caprice/impala ss to save on money after the rebuild.
