On the other hand, starting with less overbore will leave you with stronger cylinder walls and room for a future freshening. I started with 4.020"

I went 4.030 just due to being able to get a standard piston off the shelf for in mine, I would have only went .010 over if I wouldnt have had to order a custom set of pistons.

I'm at .060" over and 20+ psi boost with no problems (with the block, at least). That said, Injuneer is right, less is better because it leaves you more strength and cylinder wall for later rebuilds. Knowing what I know now, I would have just honed it to 4.002 and put some standard pistons back in it the first go-round.

I spent a little extra money on my pistons, and custom ordered a set at 4.010. I just didnt see why I should go 4.030 for the first build on a virgin block, when it cleaned up fine at 4.010. I was thinking ahead for future rebuilds.

I'm not really concerned about redoing the engine. The next time it come out it'll prolly be for a crate motor. I foud the Mahle powerpac for about $490 shipped, is that a pretty good price? It seems to be. Where do you guys get your Powerpac from?
