I drove an L98 Vette with long tubes, exaust, intake, and chip. That thing felt no slower than my LT1. The owner said he ran a 13.7 in it and he weighs a good 300lbs. Stock for stock I guess it be a good amount slower.

Those cars handle like they are on rails, wish my Camaro could handle like that.

 

when my 94 a4 was stock. completly stock down to converter and air filter. even original fuel filter, plugs and wires.

ran 14.1 and burnt 3rd out. just a guess but i think 13.8 could have been possible with all the gears.

well i have owned an 85 vette with an l98, i have also owned 87 iroc and an 88 with the 5.7 l98, i even owned mustangs 5.0's, let me tell you the truth coming from a guy that have owned several cars, if you compare a stock l98 to an lt1 then there is no contest, in late 80's and early 90's when the mustangs use to race l98 irocs they use to be very close competition, if u got yourself a 5.0 coupe then its almost always a winner vs a stock iroc, but close......since the lt1 came out it put an end to this , a stock 93 with 273's lt1 vs a stock 5.0 mustang was a joke, the lt1 will eat it off the line, quarter mile, highway, you name it....i even got beaten by every lt1 that i raced with my irocs and mustangs,and thats with a few mods.... thats why i own an LT1, so for someone to tell me that an iroc l98 could beat an lt1 stock for stock then this person is on something....i don't believe it, last time i checked the fbody's were only becoming faster not slower with time and technology. i dont even think there is any advantage for the l98 over an lt1 none whatsoever, LT1 is plain jain the better engine overall low end or top end, you wanna go even wilder, get an LS1.

 

well said 95zeee28. The l98 vetts were quicker than the l98 3rdgens just do to the fact they were lighter. I have owned 3 l98 3rd gens. Stock for stock lt1 owns the l98. Only exception was my stripper 88rs no power anything(even steering),no ac,no back seats, lite weight carpet(sound deadening removed) no air pump,full bolt ons with a l98 from a 91 vett and a pizza box intake. That car could trap at 102
