396 + stock cam = ??? bs?

I was just told that this 396 build has stock cam and pulled 8 cars from a 20mph roll on a car that ran 11.7 in the quarter. I dont find this possible on a stock cam? He didnt even say heads are ported just a valve job

hmm

id say it could run decent on a stock cam. but it would DEFINATLEY never ever reach any where near what it can do on a stock cam. it would be like putting an l98 cam in an lt1. i dont see why the would leave the stock cam in. hell they built everything else. i doubt it is a stock cam, i bet its on a stock lsa to be more like a sleeper.

heres what i got in another email

"Yes its the stock LT1 cam with the 1.6 roller Rockers which changed the overall lift which makes it perform like a higher lift cam like I said before, and my dad undercut the valves for extra flow."

Not a chance in hell, he's full of **** in either it being a 396, or the 11.7 car with 8 car lengths...

Not to mention if you're doing a 396, why would you just do a basic head job and not even P&P the heads... something's afoul...

i have a feeling its actually a 396 with no money into heads and a stock cam. i think it was a dumb thing to do. he says hes got the receipts for all the motor work so we will see. i am going to see it wednesday. ill probably drive it and be able to tell how well it runs

I think it is very possible, but there would have to be a power adder.

I bet he raced someone who was guessing at their track times based on dyno numbers or he was racing someone who didn't know it.

Stock injectors are only good for about 350rwhp. No way it will pull 8 cars on a 11sec car. Did he say it was a lt1 camaro; maybe its a stripped vw bug lt1.
