the difference between a disc style and pintle style injector at a given fuel pressure as far as spray pattern goes is like the difference between an out of the box holley 750 DP and a chuck nuytten prepped 750 as far as atomization goes. not all carburetors are created equal either.

True
But Chuck didn't just jack the fuel pressure up on a 650CFM and call it a Pro Stock carb either.

im not talking about jacking up the fp, but ive seen the difference in how well they atomize. the way i look at it is this, if i can get away with a 32 instead of a 36lb injector, and get the same a/f with a lower bsfc the better off i am. the extra is just waste, and could help carbon up the inside of the engine. on a normally aspirated stock or bolt on setup there isnt going to be a difference in power, but in the higher hp NA and forced induction setups i have seen a difference of an odd percent or two. not just in power, but in how well they idle as compared to big pintle injectors. thats one of the reasons the majority of the bigger injectors (50lb +) are mostly pintle style as opposed to disc. i just dont see any reason to pump anymore fuel into the engine then absolutly needed for the desired WOT target a/f. and a lot of it is that i just prefer the disc injectors.

This is why they call it a tune up.

I'm not saying to run 160's in a stock engine. Where do you get the carbon idea from,Unlead doesn't leave carbon. There ain't a nickel's worth of differance in either style it's the size that matters. You will have to let me see dyno results back to back on the differant styles for me to be a believer. The reason larger injectors are pental is they are easier to control with LARGE amounts of fuel delivery and the space provided for the injector. They will both get the job done if sized right.
Does the injector sizing formulas have any input for differant style injectors??????? Don't think so!!!!! IMO there is NO advantage(HP or otherwise) having one over the other except cost, the disc is cheaper in our size injector.

MAN, everybody wants a browney button for trying to do "more" with "less" when they make a product exactly to suit the job.

BTW you can "get away" with 24lb'rs but it sure will be HP bound.
