396 Dynoed @ 467RWHP need Z06 MAF???
396 Dynoed @ 467RWHP need Z06 MAF???
I just got my 1995 Formula back from MTI where they dynoed it at 467RWHP, but the graph seemed a little flat on the top end instead of just hitting a peak, it kind of flattened out. Anyway, many people have suggested the stock MAF is a restriction on top end. Everyone I talked to has suggested using the Z06 MAF instead of an aftermarket one. I found one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MESE:IT . My question is whether this MAF is a plug-n-play system with the ramcharger.com adapter and the PCM reprograming?

If you look at his name that might give a hint as to whos motor it is?
fmsracing is probably Futral Motor Sports. They have one hell of a head porter doing stuff for them :-)
The ZO6 MAF is a good idea, but the question is probably better suited to the tuning forum.

I don't like Z06 MAFs myself, but it might be a good idea considering the power level of your motor. You will need to go back on the dyno and retune after you change the MAF though.
Oh yea... what do you have in that thing?

It has all the good bottom end stuff and AFR 227 Competition ported heads, LT4 intake that was extrude honed, a Comp Cams XR268R (soild roller), Hooker super Comp headers and a 4" Muflex system.

I don't know if they mentioned it or not but it is actually a GOOD thing to have a long, flat HP curve instead of one that is peaky then drops off. As for your numbers, 467 is very respectable but keep in mind that if you are trying to compare dyno numbers to Joe-Bob out there that your dyno numbers are only good on THAT dyno under the same running conditions, i.e. engine temp, tire pressure, oil temp etc. I have also seen huge differences just going from one dyno shop to another. Make good notes of the conditions when you dynoed and use try to repeat them to go back and tune more on the same dyno. If you go to a different shop after making a tuning change then all bets are off.

Sure w/ the proper programming anything's plug and play w/ the adapter to get the plug's to work.. Fwiw my buddy has a 85mm SLP Maf? and stock programming and a plug adapter is all that was needed..

Delphi = GM , at least I know the A/C compressors are. Not sure about other components...
Re: 396 Dynoed @ 467RWHP need Z06 MAF???
As far as I know, the Z06 MAF and the chevy full size truck MAF are the same. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. The truck one is much larger, is the Delphi unit with the 5 pin plug and integrated intake air temp sensor.... The adaptor should be all you need; I just soldered the plug onto my harness instead of using the adaptor.
