383 w/ stock heads

Would anyone see a problem w/ me running this? it will be a forged 383 w/ my 230/236 112 LSA cam and stock heads. I just want to drive the damn thing again! if this will cause problems I will not even try it w/ that, and wait for the heads/cam.

thanks

The power comes from the heads/cam really. The 383 I guess will add some power but it won't be your typical power having 383.

383 w/ stock heads = disappointing, get head work done. I know from experience. I had ported heads but a SMALL cam. Now im going for a Bret Bauer cam!

It won't cause any problems, but you really do need some extra cfm over the stock heads to properly feed the extra cubic inches. If you put it together with the stock heads now, you'll just be tearing it apart later to do it right, or the alternative is to have a sub-par 383.

Re: 383 w/ stock heads

that wouldnt be a very high revving 383.

I bet it would make decent torque down low.

Re: 383 w/ stock heads

in 2-3 months i MIGHT have enough money for a good heads/cam swap, but not yet... so that is the reasoning behind it... I bet it will run faster than it did w/ same cam on the 350 which was somewhat impressive.

No, it won't cause "problems". It will simply choke off your 383 at a fairly low RPM.

When you get the money for a set of good heads later on, they'll have a big impact.

Re: 383 w/ stock heads

ok so when this motor "chokes off" what is it going to do? Just drop power like a spike? are we talking like 5,000rpms or something that low? because the cam goes to 6100-6200rpms. I just want it to be faster than it was with the 350 and the same cam... which I am guessing would easily happen?

thanks again

The motor will probably peak around 5600 - 5800 or so, and fall off pretty quickly.

If youve ever driven a TPI car, it would feel like that.
