you have experiance with the L92s yet? I saw flow numbers for them and the exhaust side looked a little weak. they have massive intake ports so they better flow some air! I don't think an L92 stroker would cost much more than what my 383 went together for ($6500.) it would have a whooooole lot more power.
when I start building the car I'll have to pick your brain

Yeah the L92's can move some SERIOUS wind... by the time there is a intake that's available I'll be all set on the porting end of things.

Re: 383 teardown pictures
1racerdude, that harrop intake is a little too much money for me lol. that probably costs more than the mustang I will eventually buy!
bret, what about using an L92 truck intake until a single plane comes out? I saw on the L92 thread on ls1tech that a carb style intake is being developed but I don't know how far along it is. Also, what kind of hood is the dude with the LS1 mustang using?
I also have more news about my 383. the rod bearing failed in the #6 cylinder. I can move it freely with my hand. the crank is most likely junk metal too. the good thing is the block isnt damaged. hopefully the piston is fine too. I must say though I am impressed with the eagle rods. I was going well over 6000 rpm when it failed. you'd think I would have a nice hole in the side of the block. we even had to start the car back up briefly to get it on the trailer.

We are talking 130+mph without the juice, which is super easy on a carbed intake! Throw some ported dart heads into the mix and it will be scary. TH350, big stall and some nice tires, headers are even easy in that deal as well.
As for the L92's when that dam single plane comes out they will be easier, but until then it's sheetmetal time. Already have the porting covered though, them puppies MOVE SOME WIND!

are people giving you alot of crap for wanting to drop an LS1 in a mustang? I can't think of any way the 302 is better than an LS1. the combo really seems like a match made in heaven. I think I know what hood you're talking about.

is that it? If so, I like
It will be some time before I can start an LS1 mustang project. I have to part the firebird out and sell it. I also bought an 89 toyota supra turbo for REALLY cheap with a blown turbo that I'll be fixing, selling, and banking a bit of cash in the process

Not a 302 but a 351 Windsor out to 434CID would match the LS1.
Ya can make a Ford as fast as a Chevy It just cost a bunch more.

Nobody really gives me crap because i have kept it private until now. I don't really give a **** if people have a problem with it, its my car and i'll do what i want to it. In fact in order to disturb some more ford owners I will be running the 347 badges to do be a tad more tricky. I also think it will be a match made in heaven as well, a car with a raceweight of less then 2800lbs with my fat *** in it and a decent powerplant should be a good combo. Just as Bret said, its a very budget oriented setup that should be down right nasty, couple that with the NOS bigshot plate setup thats already on my 308 and hold on, because your going for a ride. Yes thats the hood I have that you showed a picture of as well, very nice looking piece. I have a few pics of it on my car too,if ya want them since i don't think it looks great on that purple car.
Oh and Larry, I am sure we could have built a setup as fast or faster with a Ford mill, but turns out that just ain't my style. Previous plans were 4xx CI Clevor motor with Blue thunder heads....but really what Fun is a Ford motor in a Ford?

I have a friend here with a trunk style fox body. He put an LS2 in it with all forged rotating assembly, patriot stage III heads and a carb- initially put down 475 on motor through a TH400. I've seen the car go 9's in the 1/4 on spray.

I ain't knocking it,in fact I have one here that I am going to put a big inch SBC in. It's an '89 with full moly cage, narrow 9",13-31's,set up for a glide. The owner already has the pieces for the engine, all I got to do is build it and put it in. Should be an 8 second ride when I get through.
Re: 383 teardown pictures
89385formula,
I was just wondering what you're looking to spend when the car is all said and done? I have several friends who are telling me this CAN NOT be done "budget." I figure by the time I am ready to do this I will have upwards of $10k to play with. Im leaning more towards just getting an stock-ish LS1 in there, having the engine mounts, headers, tranny mounts, driveshaft, wiring all complete. after the car is all together I'll piece together an engine.
I see LX 5.0 cars selling for $2500 in decent shape.
I see LS1/4L60E combos with wiring harness selling for ~$3500.
I don't see how I could blow another $4000 on the little stuff.

BET me.
Ya will have 1000+ in custom headers. A tranny build will need a glide or at least a T350, converter,beefing up the 8.8(33 spline)or go with a 9 inch,drive shaft,and suspension,radiator and fans,accessories.
I see 5,000 right there.
