That is true. I'll wait on the sensor until I drive it for a while. As long as I know the wiring is good I't wont be as scary not seeing any temp. James

I can drive a mile or two before mine moves. At night even longer. And I'm on stock programming with manual fans off.

I was asking because the instructions said to use a external fan when first running the headers because of an increase of heat temps in excess of 1000 or something like that. Know what I mean? James
Do you you normally go around touching 1000 degree headers and are suprised they will burn you? I hate to see you near a stove

Don't get made at me because you all got soft hands. I work for a living. Like I said I work around heated parts and oil all day long and this was a lot more than what I thought it should be.

This is not a tread for people to bump up there # of post. If you don't know any info about the subject go flood someone elses post or make up your own. Thanks for you your over whelming supply of knowledge.

I have already have given info about the topic and I feel it was sufficient, and I really don't care about my # of posts and you comment on my over whelming knowledge. I could have told you the header was hot and saved your hands.

Peace

Jason

My ceramic coated FLP's run ~400* F at idle, right after the exhaust port, fwiw

Just want to make sure Im not upsetting any one. I am not mad in any way shape or form. What I said was just to discourage the new board members from poasting crap to bump up their stats. I usually don't reply to post unless I have some good info. Sometimes questions are asked about the wrong way which brings out dumb replies.
My question did not have anything to do with a header running hot from normal driving. It was about running for a min at idle and it being smoking hot. the reason I asked was because the headers came with a caution about using a fan because of the extream temp during initial eng run after install. Not quite the same as, If I drive for 6 hours and shut the car off is it ok for the header to be really hot?"

Understand what Im saying??

Dude, I'm an outgoing guy with a good personality. Its hard to express true feelings in a post. But I was in no way undermining you. Just saw the opportunity to make a joke and took it. I'm in the military. Most of my day consists of straight faced reporting to my Staff NCOs. A lot more work would get done if I was happy about talking to them, but instead its a chore. If humor can't be thrown into a thread every now and then, then how would we make acquantinces on a board such as this, and why would we post if it just became another chore. Sift through the replies and use what you want. Trust me there's no grandprize for having the most posts, and everyone knows that. I respect the man with 3 post as much as the guy with 6,000. If you have half a brain then it will come out in your posts and a post count isn't really even needed. Have a good day, and I hope you fix your problem.

ok, so if the gauge works when you ground it, so you know the gauge and wiring works.t

so, check the sender. get a voltmeter that measures ohms. set the sender in the fridge for one hour. tskr it out snd measure the resitance between the two pins (or pin and body, if it only has one pin). write that down. now, set it on the sidwalk at noon for an hour. measure again. they should be different. if they change it should be a good sensor.

process of elimination my friend. check each component one at a time.
