383 stroker question

Some of you may know that I search ebay everyday for new Camaros... or maybe you don't know this since I mostly only post in the appearance section...

Anyway, I was wondering, why are there so many LT1 Camaros with 383 strokers for sale ALL THE TIME on ebay with less than 3000 miles (usually) since the build up? What's the deal? Anybody have a theory as to why there are so darn many cars going up for sale after such a time consuming and expensive modification? The value of the cars sure isn't affected, so it's not like a get rich quick scheme... Do you think it is due to cheap parts being used, or what?

Thoughts?

You dont have to look to far to find Camaros, tires, and all sorts of stuff with only 3000 miles, now when you build yours, are you going to drive it 3000 miles than sell it? My guess is, there is a lot of fibbing out there!

Oh, I guess I should be more specific! Most of the cars had at least 115,000 miles on them before they built them into 383 strokers, drove them 3000 miles, and decided to sell them. I don't understand the reasoning, so maybe one of you guys does.

Some of it is likely spreading the budget too thin and then they can't afford to keep it.
Some are likely done poorly and while they may be reliable do not perform and the guy get fed up and sells.

There is a lot of truth to this IMO.

One reason might be that no matter how much money and labor you put into the car, the only way you will get even close to what you have into it is through a private party---no dealer is going to give you anything as a trade in on a new or used car (at least nothing compared to what you have in it).

Another reason is that once you have experienced putting lots of dough and time in mods and have suffered some dire consequences for one reason or another, many do not want to take the chance of having to go through it again, especially since if it is broken they won't be able to pawn it off on any one i.e, "get out of it while you still can". My 383 LE2 TA is for sale right now. It's got a little over 3k on the new engine.

In my case... it took me about 2 years (off and on) from start to finish to do my TA. In that time, I changed jobs and finally got to the point where I could afford one of the cars that I've wanted since I was a kid in high school... a MKIV Supra TT. I found a deal on one that I couldn't pass up, so I bought it. I've owned 9 different F-bodies throughout the years and I was just ready for something different. I spend so much time with the Supra, I don't have time for the TA... so there's no point in it sitting in the garage taking up space.

So... that's my reason. Not sure about all the other guys.
