383 stroker guys...?Questions?

I blew my motor 2 days ago. Slung Con. Rod.....wen through the coolant housing and block....
I want to build a new motor from the block up.....

I was think that I would go with a 383 stroker. I can get a block used for like 300 and get the cyl. bored out. I can get a kit for like 1700 with the pistons rods rings crank.

What other cost am I going to have?
I heard something about getting the crank case bored?
Can I use the stock cam and rockers?----(Will be raplaced 2 months after)
I have P&P heads and headers.....
How much to Bore?
What other parts do I need?

To deckthe block is like $100
To bore .30 0ver is $100
to line hone journels $125
Clean and flux block $75
install cam bearings $30
freeze plugs $20
so thats $400-$500 for machine work

Balance rotating assembly $200...your kit should be prebalanced

it can handle it just fine, you just will not be making much more power than before. How big of a shot do you want to run? My crank rods and pistons cost me $1000. It has forged rods and pistons with a cast crank. It will be able to take a nitrous just fine.(my kit only goes up to a 175 shot)

What type of power gains have you seen in your setup? Times and dynos? if you have them.

Where did you get your set up?

mine isn't done yet. It's just a short block on a stand. But I plan to have it in the car in a month or two.

The top end will handle it fine...you just want get the full hp gains that a 383 will give you without better flowing heads. Youll want hardened push rods.

I went with SRP forged pistons....$450
Eagle H beams rods.....$500
Eagle forged crank......$600
Balancing.....$200

I also am having standard 4bolt main caps put in for $150
That setup will handle the 200 shot that I want to run with ease.
I plan on making 400hp NA with ported heads and the cc305 cam....this is a small cam for this setup but I need to pass emmisions so its as big as I can go.

Other cost.....gasket set...$190 from Thunder Preformance

It all depends on the heads and cam you plan on running. I personally would get something with a 1 3/4 primary.
