383 stroker and 302 destroke ?'s

Hi i was just wonderin if anyone has made their stock lt1's into 383 and if there were any complete kits they recomend. I have seen a few from crank, rods, pistons, and cams but what ones do u recomend, not only for quality but for price.

And also has anyone destroked their 350 to a 302 here for a high rpm screamer? Thx

I was wondering if anyone has reduced the cubes on their block? I saw an article on a LS1 that had been made into a 305, and it actually made more horsepower and torque than the original, but they had upgraded lots of parts for high rpm work. So i was wondering if anyones has done it, and if it was sucessful. Im not planning on doing it, im just really curious. Thanks!

As for the 383, well, just about everyone on this board has done it! Tons of kits out there, try www.cmotorsports.com.

As for the 302, GM did a project car with a 302. I really wasn't overly impressed, given GM's nearly bottomless wallet. I'll take my extra cubes anyday.

There's no real point to destroking these engines... even with an aftermarket ECU, you can still spin a high end 383 crank to 9000rpm if you wanted to. Given the fact that you could buy a valvetrain to sustain that rpm, you sure as hell can afford the bottom end. The stock ECU only support 7000rpm anyway, give me a 383.

Aye, not too much piston speed with our RPM limitations to make destroking anything worthwhile IMO.
