383 and stock throttle body
And I assume your getting all of your machine work and cleaning and assembley and the little things for free ? My crank was $130 used needing polishing, 2 new pistons, new oil pump. Guess where the other $1300 went ? Machine work, cleaning and assembley professionally done. I've got confidence when I turn it 6500 with stock rods, crank and pistons, never skips a beat
CAT... Just be careful, thats the only advice i'll give of them.

Bolt ons would do all you need. With the bolt ons in my sig,my car went 8.41@83mph 1/8 mile, and never got around to installing the RRockers.Never had the valve covers off.All motor.7.46 on the sauce. All on drag radials.
yep yep yep
As I get the $$$ I will put better exhaust (headers/ cat back etc...) and t/b and other high perf. bolt ons, maybe even pull the headsdown the road and port and install bigger valves, but for now what I got is a killer bottom end and I will work from there.

headers??
so do headers next? Open to suggestions? It has the stock catback with 129,000 miles on it too. What would you do next? Please no S**** A** answers, like pull the engine.

yorkie - now that I know you spun a main, your kind of heading in the right direction. what i would have done is a 355 and just cleaned up the cylnder walls a little bit and put some new bearings. it would have been cheaper, more sensible, and just as reliable. but since you have the crank do it but damn man, stock headed stock manifold 383???? doesn't sound too good to me.
Eventually
I will work the heads and Manifold, but want it back together and running, bought the car with a harrific knock and basically have not drove it since buying it 2 months ago. Between buying it and rebuilding engine and fixing other little nit noid stuff on it, my MAD money is run out for now, got a killer bottom end though.
