383 and stock throttle body
Of course it will work, it just may not make the most power. I ran a 58mm on a stock bottom car, and many others have as well, its up to you what to go with, some stroker people prefer to go monoblade which can flow even more air.

coolest guy i've ever met. He lurks this forum and posts once in a great while too.

like i said in your other thread. your looking for power in all the wrong places. top end. not bottom. bang for the buck just isnt' there on the bottom end...
I dare ask... what cam?

good choice if you want a very tame car...
but the kit comes with rockers??
just get soe headers
Dont want headers
All they do is leak and rust, and louder than manifolds, Like I said I dont want the faster z-28, just a little more power and for 500.00 I think it was good 383 buildup.
I don't know if you want to run a 383 with stock manifolds. I ran my 383 with the hotcam, stock heads, stock manifolds for a while but when I would go WOT the car would shake and do other odd stuff, nothing serious but it was blatantly obvious the stock manifolds weren't cutting it. On went the LTs and the car was mucho faster and never did those wierds things again. I also picked up atleast 5 mph in the 1/8.
I don't see why you want a bit more power than stock but don't want headers and only want to do the bottom end. In my opinion I think you have your priorities mixed up, not a flame.
Bottom end = $$$$$ with minimal gains, very minimal without matching parts :cough:headers:cough
If your stock bottom end is broken then I can understand but otherwise I'm lost as to why you want to do the bottom end and nothing else.

yorkie you're smoking tweak... everything you have said in both posts has been completely off. I don't mean to flame either, but please do some reading before you get into what you're getting into. I think what you want is some ported stock castings, a hotcam, and some headers and bolt-ons... you don't want a 383. The extra cubes won't do anything for you if you don't have the extra airflow in the heads/cam to bring more air in. You are opening up the bottom end but still have a restriction on the H/C - useless!!! Plus the amount of work to do the 383... you would have to pull the entire engine out. Also, it's not just parts, its all the stuff you need to replace (gaskets, timing chain, timing cover etc.) then you have all the block machining and prepping, 4 bolt mains, rod bolts, studs, **** adds up. 500 dollars for a stroker??? Pass that **** over here man it must be some super stupid. DO SOME READING.
Nothing wrong with a stock topend. If you don't have enough money and you've spun some bearings then thats what you need to stay with :-). Friend of mine did this, and got me to build his bottom end, yea he could have gotten more power with a little work he chose not to. Car runs fine and has a 12 in it if it would go down the track (spinning).. Whats wrong with that?
