No problem.dont plan on working on a budget.the 383 is a pricey build.everyone intends to go way over thier budget.

I have a Callies, Oliver, JE combo and its been in the car since 1995..Its not cheap, but I can't argue with 11 years of abuse...Lunati makes good kits, too...

Re: 383 rotating assembly

You can build a nice shortblock for under 2500 $ by doing alot of the work yourself.

What I did on my first LT1 383 was have the block bored to the pistons, then I assembled the thing together with a set of crappy cheap bearings and clearanced the whole shebang. Then I sent it back to have the block cleaned and cam bearings installed, I installed all the freeze plugs and oil plugs myself.

With that I used a cast steel stroker crank, aftermarket "I" beam rods, and some hyper pistons. That shortblock was under 2000$

The one I am building now (because I disliked my first motors piston choice) I am basicly replicating the mock-up prep, but adding splayed caps, and having the block decked. This time though I went with a smaller dished Forged pistons, Scat Pro I rods, and a scat forged LW crank (non-twist), I realize the crank is a little over kill, but I got a killer deal. This second shortblock I am shooting to stay close to 2500$ , I am ooking though at closer to 2800 to 3000, but it's still alot less than I've heard alot of people pay.
