383 ring job, now runs [bad], some white smoke also

So my 383 was having a lot of blue smoke before, and had a pretty bad oil leak, i took the car to the shop and had them put in new piston rings, supposedly they rehoned or cleaned the cylinders and polished the crank.

The car was running very good before i took it to the shop, just had the oil leak and the blue smoke problem.

now the car is shooting out a bunch of thick white smoke, not the kind you get from coolant since this smoke sticks around for a while. More smoke comes out when the car is revved or after it just sits there for a while.

No codes are being thrown except for 26 (evap problem) which i had before and the car still ran very good. I used datamaster to scan for codes, but it didn't say any type of misfiring or anything else.

The car also doesn't start unless the gas is being pushed. This was not an issue before.

Seems like the car is running on 1 cylinder and has no power. not sure what the problem could be so im wondering what i should try or have the shop try.

The shop was going to let me take the car and wanted me to get it tuned but that won't help with how bad this thing is running since i have a tune from ION already and that was running fine before.

I told the shop that the car was not driveable which it isn't. Not sure what I should do or what tests should be done to see what is wrong. Car worked fine before i took it there, now doesn't leak or have blue smoke but runs like garbage.

the shop did think my opti was bad but it only has 2500 miles on it and was fine before, so they actually took it apart and said they cleaned it out, but the problem was the optispark harness which i replaced.

any suggestions are appreciated.

sounds like your rings are not seated..thats not good...they should pull it and rering it..they moust have done something wrong

Sounds like you have an injector stuck open. Pull your injector rail, turn the key to "on" and see if you have fuel start to spit out of an injector. If you do, there's your problem.

If you have a FP gauge you don't have to get too messy, turn they key to on and look for pressure to hold. If it immediately drops, try what I said above. If it holds, that's not the problem.

called the shop and told them to check the fp with the gauge.

I should know in a couple of hours if the fp stays steady since they can't get to it right away.

i would guess there is a problem with the head gasket.

so the shop checked the fp and it didn't drop.

car doesn't overheat, just doesn't run right at all. Really seems like it is misfiring horribly but there aren't any codes for it.

i don't know if any of this info is useful, but datamaster showed INJ DC around 4.5 for both, fuel trim cell around 16-18 i cant remember the others off the top of my head but i think they were pretty normal.

The guy at the shop said the INJ DC should be around 1-2 or something.

so i had the shop do a compression test or at least start it, the shop said they didn't get through all the cylinders when i asked for the numbers, but they said they think they had found the problem and think the valves might need to be readjusted.

so hopefully they fix whatever is wrong and have the problem found.
